“Forget everything you have learned and tested about device feet so far and experienced in countless listening comparisons!

I have to admit that I was very skeptical when Mr. Maurer from Vortex HiFi introduced me to his new maple device feet on the phone, because these products were so very different from what Mr. Maurer had previously been on the market in the form of effective sound-optimizing products brought.

With the best will in the world, I could not imagine that a few simple wooden feet that you put under a hi-fi device could really bring about a gain in sound, as described by Mr. Maurer. So I first ordered the small version, the Vortex HiFi VN 30 DB device feet, through sales. When these finally arrived, I was of course very curious.

Test report on the Vortex HiFi device feet VN 30 DB (Carsten Haugk)

We heard with two different stereos, which are also in completely different price ranges. On the one hand there was a T + A stereo system with multi-source player MP 1000 E, integrated amplifier PA 1000 E and Dynaudio Confidence C2 MK2 Signature as loudspeakers. A hi-fi system with an absolutely top-quality sound.

The second stereo system consisted of a Musical Fidelity M3si integrated amplifier and the brand new Oppo Sonica DAC as a player. The latter fetched the audio files, like the T + A system, via streaming over the network from a Naim HDX audio server. The Dali Epicon 6, which was actually completely oversized for this, was used as the loudspeaker for this second system. I was supported in the hearing test by a good music lover, because four trained hi-fi ears are known to hear better than two.

After the basic sound comparison of the two dissimilar stereo systems, in which, as everyone can probably imagine, the T + A system was clearly ahead, we quickly placed the Vortex HiFi VN 30 DB device feet under the Oppo Sonica DAC and the Play Button pressed. OK so far so good. But what happened now can hardly be put into words. We both looked at each other like we had never really heard music. The second stereo system was raised in one fell swoop to a sound level that was on a par with the untuned T + A system. It was simply unbelievable how the second system improved in terms of spatial representation, the width of the stage, the details and a fine drawing. When switching directly between the two systems, only the speakers with their different sound characteristics made the difference.

Of course, that made you want more. And so we implemented the Vortex device feet under the T + A MP1000E. I don't need to tell you what happened next. The sound image now grew far beyond the Dynaudios and shone with uncanny calmness, naturalness and fine detail as I had never heard it before. The whole frequency spectrum gained in charisma and spatial staggering that you thought you were sitting in the middle of the recording. We used track 10 on Sophie Zelmani's CD Soul, for example, as a reference. In this very sensitive and melodic piece of music the singer flattered us so much that we got goose bumps. But even in complex music passages, such as at the end of the first track on the Kelly Family CD Wow, the comprehensibility of the lyrics presented by the singers was immensely improved.

My personal opinion: These Vortex device feet are an absolute must for every hi-fi and home theater system. Like us, you will hardly stop wanting to experience your music or film collection anew with enthusiasm. Try it. It's just pure enthusiasm. " End of quote
